Yes, Living in Arizona I am living the Oil Field Life. My better half works in Saudi 6 months a year doing Fracing in the oil field. So that means I get him the 6 months a year to love on and be around. Which I am lucky when it comes to the this life style. Other families go months with out seeing their OFM ( oil field man)and to only have him home for a few days to week home before he is gone again.
Trust me it not easy at all, but we make it work. Our secret is lots of texting back and forth when he is gone. I have to say it a blessing our phone company does unlimited oversea texting. Though I know he can't really do anything from so far away I still tell him about what is going on at home. He is my partner and still need to be on the same sheet of music I am when he gets home. Yes i make the day to day choices but I still include him on the big stuff.
Do I miss him? Yes, I miss him badly when he is gone. he works 35 on on 35 off. Some times the 35 days fly by quickly and he back home before we know it. Then there are hitches like this one where it get sideways and a full week got added and it is going so slow. The day that seem to take for ever is waiting for that flight he is on coming home.
We make this work for us. Yes I love to have him home more, but the oil field gives the chance to have the life we want for us and the kids. The long lonely nights make the nights he is close that much more sweet. It is like seeing him for the first every time he comes home. I get butterflies and giddy has a high school girl. I would not trade this for him to have a 9-5 job.
